Shop Sabbath Coffee in Clawson
While it’s easy to find great coffee and vegan treats in downtown Detroit, it’s more challenging out in the burbs. But in the small town of Clawson, there’s a new coffee shop that serves up both: Shop Sabbath Coffee.
Husband-and-wife team Trevor and Miranda Graham love coffee so much that they named their new spot after a Jewish observance that teaches families to slow down and appreciate the simple things in life, like sipping a cup of joe. And that’s exactly what the pair is hoping to do with their cafe, located at 24 E. 14 Mile in the former White Wolf Patisserie space.
Shop Sabbath Coffee: Where Quality Meets Craftsmanship
Along with typical third-wave coffee drinks, Shop Sabbath will offer a slushy machine for frozen lattes and cider, and pastries delivered daily from Cannelle by Matt Knio. The cafe will also sell a variety of roasts from the local coffee bean company, Deerfield Roasters.
Though the opening date of the new spot is still a few months away, Kirtley said it should open “in November or December.” It’s the first project from Tech & Mortar Hospitality Group, which includes Dennis Weiss and Jeff Bianca, along with Brian Piper (of Detroit’s upcoming Weiss Distilling Co.). The company has a few other projects in the works, including an upscale restaurant at 24 E. 14 Mile in partnership with the founders of Eater Award-winning Baobab Fare.
